Your Tax $ at Work

As I'm typing, I'm actually wasting tax-payers dollars. And I don't really feel bad about it. Let me explain why...

I work with a guy who is supposed to work from 7:30 til 5:00 - a nine hour day with a 30 min lunch break. This guy comes in MAYBE by 8:30 and leaves for lunch around 11. That's 2 1/2 hrs of work in the morning (which usually consists of him surfing the internet.) He returns from lunch between 1 and 1:30 and then leaves again around 4:30. That's 3 hrs of work in the afternoon. So we have a grand total of 5 1/2 hrs he "works" out of 9. Not to mention that he's been working for the government for 15 years and gets paid almost twice what I do. So the fact that I spend 10 - 15 mins most days typing this blog doesn't make me feel bad.

Yesterday, I took E to my mom and dad's while I went grocery shopping. When I went to pick her up, she didn't want to come with me. So we stayed for dinner. When I told her it was time to go, she lost it - I mean, seriously. Screaming bloody murder. I wrangled her into the car, and drove home with her screaming in the backseat, saying "I want to go to Grammy's!!" between sobs. I got her out of her clothes and into some pj's (I'm still amazed that I was able to do this with the amount of effort she put out for me not to do it), put her down in the bed, and when I told her it was time for a story she stopped crying and was happy as a clam. Ah, the joys of motherhood!

Haha, on a good day of work, I'd say that I do, eh, about 30 minutes of serious work before I finally decide to pack up and go home! :) I'm bad, very bad! Ok, just during the summer when I have no clearly defined tasks and am just supposed to keep myself busy during the day... that's hard! You should kick his butt!

I just followed the mental floss link from your site and took the endangered/extinct/off the list quiz (cause I'm also wasting the company's money today). I only got a 50%, but I got really choked up when I scrolled to the bottom and saw that the Carribean Monk Seal is extinct. There is something really painful about looking into the eyes of an extinct animal.

So E stands up to Ghost Rider Mommy? I'd say she's fearless and you're in for a great time when she is a teenager. I'll try to keep her out of your hair by passing some babysitting jobs along her way.

Isn't she adorable?!
